The word is the jury may still be out on this one, with the division on who is or isn't playing it tied, in some cases to whether it's in red or blue states.

"The feedback from focus groups and listener panels we've conducted since the first of the year has been similar to the Edison research presented at CRS on whether to play the Dixie Chicks or not -- the majority are indifferent or OK with playing new Chicks' music as long as it's good with a vocal minority who feel strongly that no Chicks' music should be played. But country hasn't had such a highly regional, local decision song for many years."
