Jamie Hewlett nominated for Designer of the Year.
LONDON, UK [Wednesday Jan.11.2006] /Mix103FM.com/ -- Jamie Hewlett -- the cartoonist responsible for the Gorillaz -- has been nominated for the London Design Museum's "Designer of the Year" award.
Hewlett co-created the animated Gorillaz with Blur frontman Damon Albarn.
Other nominees for the Designer of the Year award include British newspaper The Guardian's design team, furniture designer Tom Dixon and designer Cameron Sinclair for his work with the humanitarian group Architecture for Humanity.
According to BBC.com, works by each of the artists will be on display at the Design Museum in London beginning March 4th.
Voting for the award, which carries with it a cash prize of £25,000, is open to the public at the Designer of the Year website. The winner will be announced in May.
