Kanye Tops Rolling Stone's Best Of 2005
Kanye West earns Best Album of 2005 from Rolling Stone.

by Krista Desens

Kanye West
LOS ANGELES, CA  [Monday Dec.19.2005]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Kanye West says he's the best, and Rolling Stone magazine thinks so, too.

Rolling Stone just released its "Top 50 Best Records of 2005," and West's "Late Registration" is No. 1 on the list.

The music magazine describes "Late Registration" as "a sweepingly generous, absurdly virtuosic hip-hop classic" and offers praise for West, saying, "he can do it all."

"A Bigger Bang" -- from the Rolling Stones -- is No. 2 on Rolling Stone's Top 50 Albums list, and the White Stripes' "Get Behind Me Satan" is No. 3. Other artists to make the Top 10 include Fiona Apple, Bruce Springsteen, My Morning Jacket, Beck, Bright Eyes, Sufjan Stevens and 50 Cent.

The Gorillaz placed No. 15 in the Best Album ranking with their second release, "Demon Days," and System of a Down came in at No. 20 for its May-November releases of "Mesmerize" and "Hypnotize." Records by Young Jeezy, Madonna, Franz Ferdinand, Foo Fighters and Mariah Carey also landed in the Top 50.

To see the complete list of Rolling Stone's "Top 50 Best Records of 2005," pick up a copy of the special year-end double issue, on newsstands now.
