Mariah, Kanye, Legend Up For 8 Grammys
Mariah Carey, Kanye West, John Legend lead Grammy nods.

NEW YORK, NY  [Friday Dec.9.2005]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Eight is enough for Mariah Carey, Kanye West and John Legend.

These three artists lead the pack of this year's Grammy nominees, scoring eight nominations apiece.

Mariah Carey and Kanye West share nominations for Record of the Year and Album of the Year, while Carey and John Legend share one for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance.

Carey's "We Belong Together" and John Legend's "Ordinary People" are also up for Song of the Year and Best R&B Song. Both these awards are given to the songwriter.

West and Legend share a nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for the track "They Say," which they recorded with Common.

Carey's other Grammy nods include Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best Contemporary R&B Album.

West's additional artist nominations include Best Rap Song (award given to songwriter), Best Rap Solo Performance, and Best Rap Album. He also earns a second Album of the Year Grammy nod for his production work on Mariah Carey's "Emancipation of Mimi," as well as an R&B Song nomination for his production work on Alicia Keys' "Unbreakable."

For his part, Legend also gathered nominations for Best New Artist, Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Album, and Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for his duet with Lauren Hill.

The Grammys will be presented on February 8, 2006 during a live television broadcast on CBS.
