Clarkson 'Because of You' video deals with divorce.
NEW YORK, NY [Tuesday Oct.4.2005] /Mix103FM.com/ -- Yesterday, October 3rd, Kelly Clarkson's dramatic video for "Because of You" made its world premiere on MTV's TRL.
In the new clip, which deals with divorce and dysfunctional families, Clarkson delivers an emotional performance that's drawn from her own experience -- the singer's parents divorced when she was six-years-old.
Clarkson wrote the treatment for the video herself, and Vadim Perelman, who directed the movie "House of Sand and Fog," directed it.
Clarkson says that the song is about how families get caught in cycles, and how negative behaviors get passed on to children, who end up passing those same behaviors on to their kids.
"It's all about breaking that cycle if it was a bad one," Clarkson tells MTV.com. "The video's kinda sad ... but it's a sad song, so the video obviously has to follow that. But it ends really happy and everything and the family, my family, ends up breaking the cycle of my parents."
