Green Day pulls pre-1994 catalog from Lookout Records.
BERKELEY, CA [Friday Aug.5.2005] /Mix103FM.com/ -- Green Day has reclaimed its pre-1994 catalog from Berkeley, California's Lookout! Records.
Earlier this week, the independent punk label laid off staff and suspended all artist signings and new releases.
A publicist for Lookout! told MTV.com that the label was far behind in royalty payments to the Green Day for some of its early releases including the "1,000 Hours" and "Slappy" EPs and the albums "1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hour" and "Kerplunk."
The publicist said, "Green Day was way more than reasonably patient. Lookout! got so delinquent in paying the royalties that Green Day was forced to say, 'We can't continue to float this. We need to put [these albums] somewhere where we can reliably get the royalties.' But Lookout! was their original home, and they have nothing but affection for them."
Apparently, there's no hard feelings between Green Day and the label, whose relationship was described by the publicist as "very warm and amiable."
Green Day is currently signed with Reprise Records.
