Coldplay Makes Noise Over Unfair Trade
Coldplay urges people to sign petiition to end unfair trade.

by Krista Desens

Coldplay
NEW YORK, NY  [Wednesday Aug.3.2005]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Getting rid of unfair trade rules is a cause near and dear to Coldplay's heart.

The band has been speaking out against current trade rules that keep millions of farmers around the globe in poverty.

Coldplay has teamed with Oxfam America to promote the Make Trade Fair campaign on the group's US leg of the "Twisted Logic" tour beginning August 4th in Hartford, Connecticut.

The band is asking people to sign the Big Noise petition, which calls on world leaders to change bad trade policies. Coldplay and Oxfam hope to get 50,000 signatures. So far, 7.7 million people have signed the Big Noise petition worldwide.

In a statement, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin said, "How on earth could anybody stand in a field with these people and say that it's the right thing to do to dump their excess produce cheaply on a third world country? It's beyond me. But the truth is, the people responsible haven't talked to the farmers in the areas affected."
