Green Day frontman calls eight VMA nominations 'surreal.
NEW YORK, NY [Friday Jul.29.2005] /Mix103FM.com/ -- Some things still fill Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong with awe and wonder.
Like being nominated for eight MTV Video Music Awards.
After learning that the band had scored so many nominations for its "American Idiot" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" clips, Armstrong could hardly believe it.
"This whole thing has just been surreal and overwhelming," he tells MTV.com. "It's an amazing feeling when you get recognized for one thing, but when you get nominated eight times over, it goes to a whole new level."
Green Day's "American Idiot" received two nominations for Best Video Game Soudntrack and Best Art Direction, and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" earned six nods including Video of the Year, Best Group Video, Best Rock Video, Best Direction in a Video, Best Cinematography in a Video and Best Editing in a Video.
To find out if Green Day sweeps the VMAs, tune in to MTV on August 28th to watch the show live from Miami.
