First Performers Announced For MTV VMAs
Green Day, Kanye West and Kelly Clarkson to perform at VMAs.

MIAMI, FL.  [Wednesday Jul.27.2005]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Green Day, Kanye West and Kelly Clarkson will take the stage at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards show this August.

All three acts are in the running for an MTV Moonman, the astronaut trophy awarded to VMA winners. Green Day landed eight nominations for its "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "American Idiot" clips, and Kanye West got three nods for "Jesus Walks" including Video of the Year and Best Hip-Hop Video. Kelly Clarkson also scored a pair of VMA nominations for Best Female Video and Best Pop Video.

During the MTV VMA broadcast, West plans to debut a single from his forthcoming album "Late Registration." Clarkson will perform a track off "Breakaway," her multi-platinum second album, and Green Day will play a song from their multi-platinum and Grammy-Award-winning album "American Idiot."

More performers will be announced in the weeks ahead.

The 2005 MTV Video Music Awards show will air live from Miami on August 28 on MTV.
