Farm Aid Celebrates 20 Years
Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews Band to play Farm Aid benefit.

by Krista Desens

Dave Matthews Band
CHICAGO, IL  [Wednesday Jul.13.2005]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Dave Matthews Band is among the artists lending a hand to Farm Aid this year.

The annual benefit concert to help American farmers is celebrating its twentieth anniversary, and will take place September 18th at Chicago's Tweeter Center. Along with Dave Matthews Band, Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp are confirmed to perform at Farm Aid. More artists will be added to the lineup in the coming weeks.

The first Farm Aid show took place in 1985 and was inspired by some comments Bob Dylan made at Live Aid. Willie Nelson -- along with Neil Young and John Mellencamp -- held a day-long benefit concert to raise awareness about the loss of family farms and to raise funds to keep farm families on their land. Over the last twenty years, Farm Aid has raised over $27 million.

Tickets for the 2005 Farm Aid concert go on sale July 30th.
