LONDON, UK [Tuesday Jun.21.2005] /Mix103FM.com/ -- Green Day has topped BBC Radio 1's list of the 30 "Most Punk Songs."
UK listeners recently cast their votes in the Radio 1 poll, and Green Day's hit "Basket Case" -- from the band's 1994 album "Dookie" -- was voted the "most punk song" of all time.
The Undertones' "Teenage Kicks" followed at No. 2, and The Clash's "London Calling" came in at No. 3. Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," The Prodigy's "Firestarter" and the Sex Pistols' "Anarchy in the UK" also made the Top 10.
Other notable tracks on the Radio 1 "most punk song" list include The Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop," "The Clash's "White Riot," The Buzzcocks' "Ever Fallen in Love," and Stiff Little Fingers' "Alternative Ulster."
