Keane, U2, Franz Ferdinand honored at Ivor Novello Awards.
LONDON, UK [Thursday Jun.2.2005] /Mix103FM.com/ -- Last week, Keane won the UK's prestigious Ivor Novello Award for "Songwriters of the Year."
Keane was honored by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters for the band's songwriting on the album "Hopes and Fears."
The "Best Song" award went to The Streets for "Dry Your Eyes," and "Best Selling UK Single of 2004" went to "Do They Know It's Christmas" by Band Aid 20, in which Keane also took part.
Other winners included U2, who took home the International Hit of the Year award for "Vertigo;" Franz Ferdinand, who received the Best Contemporary Song award for "Take Me Out;" and Snow Patrol's "The Final Straw," which won for Best Album.
