Franz Ferdinand
LONDON, UK  [Friday Feb.11.2005]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- It was two awards for Franz Ferdinand at the twenty-fifth annual Brit Awards ceremony held Wednesday night (February 9) in London, England. NME.com reports that the Scottish alternative band picked up Best Rock Act and Best British Band honors at the Brit Awards, which are Britain's version of the Grammys. But the biggest winner of the night was the Scissor Sisters, who took home three Brits for Best International Act, Best International Newcomer and Best International Album.

Piano-rock trio Keane won two awards for Best Breakthrough Act and Best Album for "Hopes and Fears," while the more guitar-oriented rock trio, Muse, received the Best British Live Act honor.

Teenage singer Joss Stone scored a double win, nabbing the Best Urban Act and Best British Female awards, and Gwen Stefani received the Best International Female trophy. Other winners included Mike Skinner (also known as The Streets) for Best British Male and Eminem for Best International Male. And the man behind Britain's Band Aid, Sir Bob Geldof, received an award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.
