NEW YORK, NY  [Thursday Dec.30.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- 2004 was a year of concerts, from Usher to Avril to Madonna to Hoobastank. But which North American tour was the biggest moneymaker this year?

According Pollstar, Prince topped the list, grossing $87.4 million during his 2004 North American tour to promote his latest album "Musicology." Celine Dion came in at No. 2, with her Las Vegas show that earned $80.4 million, and Madonna was third at $79.5 million. Other big tours this year included Metallica at $60.5 million, Bette Midler at $59.4 million, and Van Halen at $54.3 million.

Two country artists were among the artists with top-grossing tours. Kenny Chesney's tour earned $50.8 million, while Toby Keith's road trip grossed $43.7 million.

And what did concertgoers pay for tickets to see the top acts perform? According to Pollstar, tickets averaged $52 each before taxes and fees -- a new record.
