But the singer-songwriter won't be the musical guest that night. Instead, you'll see him on the couch, chatting it up with Daly. Mayer is on the program to plug his new TV show, "John Mayer Has a TV Show," premiering Thursday, December 9 at 11 pm ET on VH1.

So who IS Thursday's musical guest? It's 23-year-old singer-songwriter, Howie Day. "Sopranos" actress Edie Falco will also be on the show.
