Good Charlotte Grows Up
Benji Madden talks about new record, learning from mistakes.

by Krista Desens

Good Charlotte
NEW YORK, NY  [Thursday Nov.11.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- When Good Charlotte set about making its new record, "The Chronicles of Life & Death," they knew it would be different from the band's last record.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Good Charlotte guitarist/vocalist Benji Madden explains, "The songwriting process is different on every record, because you're never coming from the same place when you're writing." Good Charlotte lead singer and Benji's twin brother, Joel Madden, wrote many of the album's lyrics.

Some of "Chronicles" main themes include maturing and learning from the past. Benji says, "Each song means something different to each one of us. We're all kind of growing in our own ways. I think that's what this record is about. It's about confronting the past, learning from mistakes -- there's definitely things I've learned that I've had to be responsible for. I think this record says that. About not just running away."
