NEW YORK, NY  [Monday Nov.8.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Between touring to support her latest album, "Under My Skin," Avril Lavigne took a break for some SpongeBob fun in the recording studio.

The Canadian pop rocker recorded a new version of the SpongeBob SquarePants theme song for the soon-to-be-released "The Spongebob Squarepants Movie." Lavigne told MTV, "I made the song a little more edgy. It's kind of like the rock version of [the original]. There are a lot of loud guitars, and we picked the tempo up a little and sang it with a little more attitude."

Butch Walker produced and mixed Lavigne's cover of the SpongeBob SquarePants television theme. The song is included on the movie soundtrack, which gets released this Tuesday, November 9. The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie hits theatres on November 19.
