Franz Ferdinand Up For Mercury Prize
Glasgow quartet nominated for UK's 2004 Mercury Music Prize

LONDON, UK  [Wednesday Jul.21.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Franz Ferdinand is in the running for this year's Panasonic Mercury Music Prize, the annual award that celebrates the best in British music. The Prize is open to all types of music including pop, rock, dance, folk, jazz and contemporary classical.

Along with Franz Ferdinand, some of the other 2004 nominees include Joss Stone, Snow Patrol, The Streets, Belle and Sebastian, The Zutons, Keane and Basement Jaxx. Nominees are selected by a panel of judges from the music industry. The judges select their 12 "albums of the year." The Mercury Music Prize winner will be announced on September 7.
