HOLLYWOOD, CA  [Thursday Jul.1.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- OutKast, Beyonce and Usher took home top honors at the fourth annual BET Awards Show. OutKast nabbed the Best Group and Video of the Year awards, while Beyonce won Best Female R&B Artist and Best Collaboration, for "Crazy in Love" with Jay-Z. Meanwhile, Usher received Best Male R&B Artist and the Viewer's Choice Award for "Yeah!" with Ludacris and Lil Jon. Other winners include Yolanda Adams for Best Gospel Artist, Jay-Z for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Missy Elliott for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and Kanye West for Best New Artist. BET's Lifetime Achievement Award went to The Isley Brothers, and Danny Glover received the 2004 BET Humanitarian Award.

Kanye West's opening performance of "Jesus Walks" was among the highlights at this year's show. West was backed by a 32-member choir, drummers and dancers on a stage full of candles, and gospel artist Yolanda Adams joined West onstage to take the crowd to church. The performers received a standing ovation form the audience. OutKast also got the crowd moving to "Roses," and Andre 3000 showed his stuff by performing a split a la James Brown.

This year's show took place on Tuesday, June 29, at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre and was hosted by actress and comedian Mo'Nique. The ceremony lasted three hours and will air again on July 13 on BET.
