Dido Forced to Cancel Show
Dido cancels show due to acute dizziness; goes to hospital.

by Krista Desens

Dido
BOSTON, MA  [Friday Jun.25.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- On Saturday, June 19, Dido canceled her performance at the Fleet Boston Pavilion. According to Dido's official web site, as the singer was preparing for the show that evening, she was suddenly overcome with an acute bout of dizziness. A physician rushed to the scene and, after assessing Dido's condition, said the singer would be unable to perform. Dido was then admitted to a local hospital, and she was discharged on Monday morning (June 21).

Dido posted an apology on her web site's message board on June 23: "I'm so sorry I didn't get to perform on Saturday night," wrote the singer. "I was looking forward to that show so much. It was a beautiful evening, the place sounded great at sound check and half my family were coming to the show and we were all set to celebrate the end of the tour." Dido continued, "Unfortunately, I got sick very suddenly. I went to hospital and had to stay there 'til Monday which was all a bit miserable! But now I'm home and relaxing." The singer promised, "I will be back in Boston to make up the show as soon as I can."

Efforts are currently underway to reschedule a Boston show later this season. If the efforts are successful, the web site states that "all tickets for Saturday evening's concert will be honored." Fans can also get a refund for Saturday's concert at the point of purchase. The web site added, "On behalf of the band, crew, management and Fleet Boston Pavilion we apologize for any inconvenience."

The Boston concert was to be Dido's final date on the North American leg of her "Life for Rent" tour. In mid-July, the singer tours Europe.
