Jon Foreman says music's not about fitting a genre.
BOSTON, MA [Tuesday May.25.2004] /Mix103FM.com/ -- Switchfoot aims to transcend genres when writing songs.
The San Diego band crossed over from the Christian-rock camp to become a major success in the mainstream rock world. From Billboard to MTV2, Switchfoot's hit, "Dare You To Move" appears on the rock countdown lists alongside the likes of Jet, Linkin Park, Hoobastank and The Strokes.
Singer Jon Foreman told The Boston Globe that the band doesn't define itself or the music by categories. Instead, they focus on creating something meaningful. Said Foreman, "For us, it's a faith, not a genre. We've always been very open and honest about where the songs are coming from. For us, these songs are for everyone."
