LOS ANGELES, CA [Monday May.24.2004] /Mix103FM.com/ -- Last week, American performing rights organization BMI honored 3 Doors Down.
BMI named the group's "When I'm Gone" College Song of the Year. Frontman Brad Arnold told Billboard that he was surprised that the song found a college following since it's been a mainstream hit.
Said Arnold, "College radio is definitely a little more underground, so we were just thrilled." He continued, "When we write, we just try really, really hard not to rule anybody out. We don't try to go for any little niche."
BMI represents more than 300,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers in all genres of music.
