HOLLYWOOD, CA  [Wednesday May.19.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Andre 3000 is really getting into the act these days.

Billboard reports that the OutKast member will star in a music drama for Element Films. The as-yet-untitled movie is set in the mid-1970s and will start shooting around September in New Orleans. The film tells the story of a romance between an upper-middle-class musical prodigy named Valentine (played by Benjamin) and a lower-class free-spirit. The couple's families oppose the interracial relationship, and an accidental shooting creates more problems for the pair when it's blamed on the innocent Valentine.

Benjamin told Billboard, "This is a story that I have been passionate about being a part of for a long time. This project is coming to life at a perfect time in my theatrical career. The whole team is really excited about the possibilities."
