OutKast's Andre 3000 develops project with Cartoon Network.
LOS ANGELES, CA [Thursday May.13.2004] /Mix103FM.com/ -- It's true OutKast's Andre 3000 is always animated, but now he's taking things a step further. Soon the Atlanta rapper will have his own cartoon.
Andre 3000 and the Cartoon Network are developing an animated half-hour special and, if both parties are happy with the results, they'll create a series for the network's adult programming block. The show will draw on Andre 3000's life and may also take inspiration from his alter ego, Johnny Vulture, who is seen in OutKast's "Hey Ya!" video. Of course, Andre will provide some music for the project.
Billboard reports that Mike Lazzo, Senior VP of Cartoon's "Adult Swim" program block, had some reservations about collaborating with a celebrity. But Lazzo changed his mind after meeting Andre 3000, who has worked as an illustrator. Lazzo told Billboard, "I'm extremely wary of it, but in Andre's case, I think he is a creative genius." Lazzo added, "He has definite opinions of what he likes visually."
