America Bigger Than Jet
Aussie band is grateful for success of other Oz acts.

by Krista Desens

Jet
SPRINGFIELD, MO  [Wednesday May.5.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Jet's recent US tour left the Australian rockers impressed by the vastness of America. While in New York, drummer Chris Cester commented in an AP Radio interview, "New York is a massive, massive city. America's so big." He added, "Maybe if you're from here it's not amazing but, when you come from a place like Australia, you realize how big it is." Cester indicated that pretty much everything in the US is bigger than in Australia -- from the companies to buildings to the portions of food served.

Because of the hugeness of America, Jet is grateful for other successful bands from their homeland, such as their Aussie Invasion tour mates The Vines. Singer and guitarist Nic Cester said of The Vines, "When they got signed to Capital and sold a million records or whatever, then people started to say, 'Hey, the goldmine's in Australia.'"
