DETROIT, MI  [Thursday Mar.25.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Wal-Mart has opened is online music store, selling exclusive songs for a mere 88 cents. The chain launched its new download effort Tuesday, and will offer only-on-Wal-Mart numbers from such artists as Jessica Simpson, 3 Doors Down, Shania Twain and others. Napster and iTunes sells downloads for 99 cents, and Wal-Mart hopes to capture some of the established sellers' clients with its 11% cheaper songs. For the next two months, Wal-Mart has also secured exclusive rights to Curb Records artists Tim McGraw and LeAnn Rimes.
