Ben & Amy: Constant Conflict
Relationship remains a mystery

by Ellen Sawyer

Evanescence
DETROIT, MI  [Monday Feb.23.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee and former guitarist Ben Moody continue to intrigue fans who wonder why the two seem at such odds with each other. Moody left the band abruptly in October of last year while in the midst of a European tour, and has allegedly only spoken with Lee once since then, at this year's Grammy Awards.

As Lee accepted the band's Best New Artist Award, Moody stood by looking uncomfortable and awkward. "(Ben) was seated directly behind me at the Grammys and he had this stupid costume on," Lee said. "I saw him, and I didn't know what to think. I knew he was going to try to pull some weird prank onstage if we won. But he didn't. He just stood there and looked silly."

Moody has moved on to collaborate with Avril Lavigne, and probably won't be darkening Lee's doorstep anytime soon.

"I won't be working with Ben in the future," Lee said. "But if we ended up using an old song---and there were a couple old songs that I really like---then, yeah, he'd be on there for only that."
