DETROIT, MI  [Wednesday Feb.18.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Gwen Stefani may be on her way to conquering the silver screen, thanks to Martin Scorsese's new film "The Aviator." The movie tells the story of billionaire recluse Howard Hughes, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, and Gwen plays Jean Harlow, the platinum-haired actress romanced by Hughes in the 1930s.

"I've been trying out for movies for years, because it all comes from the same place, all the creative things inside you, and I've wanted to do it for a long time," Gwen told MTV. "But when you're touring and writing and busy, you can't compete with some of these actresses; that's what they do every day. But that's one of the reasons we took a year off. I wanted to do a film."

The Aviator is due for release in December of this year.
