"Best New Artist" Curse?
Or does the band have staying power?

by Ellen Sawyer

Evanescence
DETROIT, MI  [Tuesday Feb.17.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Remember Hootie and the Blowfish? How about Paula Cole? Sure, they made a big splash when they took home the "Best New Artist" Grammys in the '90s. But where are they today? Is there any truth to the rumor that being voted Best New Artist means a future of obscurity and irrelevance? For Evanescence's sake, let's hope not. The band describes its sound as "epic, dramatic, dark rock," which is just what music lovers want to hear right now. Here's to hoping they don't evanesce for a long, long time.

Tour itinerary:
2/18/2004 The Cotillion Wichita KS
2/20/2004 Halenback Hall/St.Cloud State St. Cloud MN
2/21/2004 Alliant Energy Center Madison WI
2/22/2004 Allen County War Memorial Coliseum Fort Wayne IN
