Evanescence Ready To Move On
Lee Itching To Sing New Songs

by Dean Cameron

Evanescence
BURBANK, CA  [Wednesday Jan.28.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Often, a recording artists' first album is filled with songs written years and years before that artist was signed to a recording contract and Evanescence is no different.

Amy Lee, lead singer for the Arkansas based band, recently said that she's over the songs and is ready to write songs that reflect who she is now; a stronger person who is more in control than the vulnerable person reflected in songs from the hit album, Fallen.

Lee said to an Australian reporter "It's just that I've grown out of it. I feel like it's hard sometimes just to do the same songs that were written when I was 16, 17, 18, when so much has happened to me and I'm just a different person now. You grow up and you change and you feel different feelings. It's hard for me to sing coming from such a vulnerable place, which I was when I wrote these songs, when I feel like I don't want to be vulnerable anymore. I want to be stronger than that. So I'm definitely ready to write about the more mature feelings that I have and the things that I've been through. I want to speak! I don't want to be silent anymore".

"Fallen" has risen to the #1 spot on the Australian charts.
