BURBANK, CA  [Thursday Jan.22.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- One of the first heavy rock and punk festivals in Japan, Sonicmania, will see Evanescence playing their brand of heavy rock the end of this month.

Rock festivals, which are so popular in the west, have been virtually non-existent in Japan until recently. Two festivals, Summer Sonic and the smaller Sonicmania have changed all that in the past few years.

Sonicmania is a festival which takes place simultaneously in two cities, Tokyo and Osaka, with bands playing one city one day and then switching venues the next day.


Other groups the scheduled are Korn, Rancid, up-and-comers Thrice, as well as a the classic punk outfit Sham 69. Brian Setzer and Slim Jim Phantom both from rockabilly the Stray Cats, will be playing sets, as well.
