Dido Ineligible For Award
Brit Awards Controversy Regarding Heritage

by Dean Cameron

Dido
BURBANK, CA  [Wednesday Jan.21.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Dido, who is up for several Brit Awards this year, including Best British Female, should actually be ineligible to receive one.

The strict Brit Award rules say nominees in most categories must be UK citizens. Dido, who claims to be Iris, also holds a British passport.

Documents by her music company list her nationality as Irish.

In 2002 Dido picked up the Best British Album and also the Best British Female award, and she is the clear front runner for this year's Best Female, having sold eight million copies of her 2003 album Life For Rent.

No decision has been made at this point.
