BURBANK, CA  [Friday Jan.9.2004]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- For the video to their next single, "Mexican Wine", Fountains Of Wayne take aim at American Idol and a few classic rock videos.

The track begins with two ten year old identical twins competing on American Idol (Host Ryan Seacrest was originally scheduled to appear, but couldn't find time in his schedule), announcing that they will be playing "Mexican Wine" by Fountains of Wayne.

Katie and Linda Lipschitz are seen playing harpsichord and guitar, respectively, though the band is heard on the video.

The Chris Applebaum directed video then shifts to a Big Pimpin' yacht where the band perform for a crowd with a line of dancers and a very naughty pillow fight.

Then a spoof of Duran Duran's classic "Rio" video is seen, where a swimsuit model sips Mexican wine while scuba diving.

Then the video returns to the Linda in the Idol competition alone in a makeshift kitchen counter where she reveals her sister's head in a simmering pot framed by black beans; a reference to the classic Wall of Voodoo video "Mexican Radio". Can I get a witness?!

The video should hit the cablewaves by the end of January with the single rocking the radio around January 20th.
