TORONTO, CANADA  [Monday Oct.15.2007]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Michael Bublé is the first Canadian performer to attach himself to CanWest's national Raise-a-Reader fundraising initiative. That means the annual literacy campaign is transitioning from a one-day grassroots event to a high-profile, months-long music series.

"I think part of why literacy is so important is because it's overlooked. There are so many people raising money for the orphaned three-legged dogs," said Bublé, "If I can't help people by supporting a good cause, then really I shouldn't have been blessed with this life."

Bublé's 2008 Canadian tour begins Jan. 10 in Victoria and will include performances in Halifax, Moncton, Montreal, Ottawa, London, Sudbury, Toronto, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna and Vancouver. Partial proceeds of the concert series will support family literacy programs in communities across the country
