LOS ANGELES, CA  [Thursday Sep.6.2007]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- There's a rumor going around that mega-producer Timbaland wants to keep Britney Spears away from the MTV Video Music Awards stage.

According to bangshowbiz.biz, the pop star is in talks to open the show. Timbaland is reportedly concerned that Brit's comeback will steal focus from the evening's other performers, including Gnarls Barkley's Cee-Lo Green, T-Pain, Lil' Wayne, Rihanna, Kanye West, Fall Out Boy, Chris Brown, Foo Fighters, and of course, Timbaland.

A source tells E! Online: "Timbaland doesn't want her on the show. He thinks it would be too much drama, and that she is going to take away from the other performers."
