So Long To Soul2Soul 2007
Power couple finishes 2 year run

by Neil Haislop

Tim McGraw
NASHVILLE, TN  [Tuesday Aug.14.2007]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- The epic Tim McGraw-Faith Hill power couple Soul2Soul II tour finished its hugely successful two-year run this weekend (at the Honda Center, Anaheim, CA), that saw it become the highest grossing country tour in history last year, and may well top itself this year.

Anybody that saw the show last year wouldıve noticed much the same only better. Lighting, staging, new songs and graphic presentations were greater, adding to the naturaL highly elevated emotional intensity of the last Tim McGraw/Faith Hill co-tours for the foreseeable future, since the couple announced theyıll not tour together again now that their children are older.

INTENSITY BUILDS ALL NIGHT After the brief, but terrific opening performance by the hot new act, Halfway to Hazard, who had 25 minutes to impress and warm up the audience (and did so with a short but cool set strongly highlighted by their debut single, ³Daisy²), the evening was intensely exciting, from the signature opening duet by Faith and Tim to kick the big shows off, to the big finale where Tim & Faith were as reluctant to leave the stage as crowds were hoping the never would. As Tim and Faith moved closer together, there two emotionally-charged relationships happening, between Tim and Faith, and the couple and the sold out arenaıs audience.

FAITH THEN BEGAN her portion of the show that was passionate and intense, but also relaxed and joyful as she worked the audience up and down the crossing ramps that spread out from center arena. From ³Wild One,² to ³This Kiss,² from ³Breathe² to ³Mississippi Girl,² the Mississippi girl highlighted her career with some of the best performances ever of these Faith classics. And, cute VIDEO BIO had introduced Faith playing on the big screens and stage floor graphic screens, and fans got a clever animated bio of Tim before he took the stage as well. McGRAW entered again from below the stage to a thunderous welcome. His stage mastery was never more evident than this weekend as he whipped crowd up to a deafening frenzy, nor was he ever in better voice. He simply tore it up with every song, and knowing that this was the finale weekend of the tour, everything seemed to hit the audience at a higher level of appreciation and impact. For instance fan reaction to Timıs especially emotionally charged ³Live Like You Were Dying,² brought the arena crowd to its feet, with all of them knowingly reacting to Timıs legging-slapping tribute to his father, Tug, (mimicking Tugıs signature slapping his glove on his leg when heıd left the pitching mound after striking Œem all out). Fans were also enormously moved by McGrawıs emotionally charged song of the times, ³If Youıre Reading This.²

WHEN THE CO-STARS took the stage for the final act of this musical passion play, imagine the most romantic public moments youıve ever seen this couple have and multiply it X5, and youıll get a sense of how meaningful this last weekend of shared music, love and glory meant to them. As they sailed through their great love duets, the air over the stage was simply flammable, youıd swear you could see a wispy steam rising.

IN SHORT, big final weekendend, hugely intense, joyful and emotional performances, great music from stars and band, fitting close to one of the great country road presentations of modern times.
