LOS ANGELES, CA [Thursday May.3.2007] /Mix103FM.com/ -- Punknews.org reports that Fall Out Boy will be heading to Uganda this July on behalf of the charity group "Invisible Children," hoping to bring awareness to the growing refugee crisis in the region.
Basist Pete Wentz said, "I'm pretty excited, but also a little nervous. I feel like I won't really understand it until I go there, and I think that there's no other chance for me to do that.
"The craziest thing I learned from working with people at Invisible Children is that if we sent one senior policy advisor to Northern Uganda, the potential for ending the war there [increases], And it hasn't happened. If everyone writes in to their congressmen, it's something we can actually do."
Over the weekend, Wentz took part in a 15-city protest called Displace Me, aimed to show support for those displaced by the Ugandan government. Over 67,000 people particiapted, reports MTV.
