Beyonce Pulls The Plug On Deluxe Edition Of "B'Day"
Columbia repsonds to Des'ree lawsuit

by Laura Katz

Beyonce Knowles
NEW YORK, NY  [Thursday Apr.26.2007]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Beyonce Knowles is, for now, taking the deluxe edition of "B'day" off the market after being sued by British singer Des'ree.

The suit claims that Knowles failed to obtain proper clearance to cover the song "Kissing You." According to SOHH.com, Des'ree had given Bey permission to use the track, but only providing that she didn't change the title and didn't film a video for the song.

Beyonce went ahead and did both, renaming the track "Still In Love (Kissing You)," and filming a video, which appears on the "B'Day Anthology Video Album." Des'ree then filed the lawsuit claiming copyright infringement, asking for $150,000 in damages and demanding that Columbia Records pull the plug on the re-released album and DVD.

Columbia is temporarily stopping distribution while they wait for a preliminary injunction hearing set for May 4.
