NASHVILLE, TN [Monday Apr.9.2007] /Mix103FM.com/ -- Tim McGraw's Sylesonic records is growing its roster as Mercury Records and StyleSonic have announced their joint venture to launch new artist Halfway to Hazard.
"We are really excited to associate with Tim and Byron and their label on the Halfway to Hazard project," said Luke Lewis, Chairman, UMG Nashville. "Tim brought his amazing musical sensibilities to the studio and, along with Byron produced a fresh, groundbreaking album. We look forward to breaking this act wide open."
The band came to the attention of Byron Gallimore shortly after he and McGraw announced the formation of StyleSonic Records. "I saw them live and was blown away," said Gallimore. "I shared their music with Tim and he felt the same passion. We couldn't be happier to be working with Mercury Records and their team."
"These guys are the real thing," added McGraw. "The songs are amazing, they have great energy live and we just had a blast making the record they wanted to make."
Halfway to Hazard is comprised of David Tolliver and Chad Warrix. Both hail form the coal-country of Eastern Kentucky, Hindman and Jackson, respectively, just outside of Hazard, Kentucky.
QUESTION IS could the StyleSonic roster ever include, Tim McGraw? "Whatever I do after the deal I have now (with Curb Records) will include my label," Tim Tells us.
"But you know you gotta go out and look for what the best possible thing is for your career. I'm always, same thing with songwriting, I've never recorded songs just because they were mine, so if I don't belong on my own label I won't be there. If it doesn't work for me career-wise, I won't be there. But I love producing acts, finding great music to produce...Half Way to Hazzard is a group that's coming out that Byron and I produce on my label and another, it's a slash / deal and so is Lori McKenna who is an incredible singer-songwriter," Tim adds.
