Kaiser Chiefs Give Thumbs Down To Diana Concert
Band won't perform because they never met her

by Laura Katz

LONDON, UK  [Friday Apr.6.2007]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- NME reports that Kaiser Chiefs have refused to take part in Princess Diana's upcoming memorial concert, saying that it would be "hypocritical" of them to participate.

Kaiser Chiefs' singer Ricky Wilson said, "It's fine if you're doing something like Live8, which is raising awareness or events that raise awareness over green issues. That's all right. But a lot of them are doing it to sell more records."

Keane, Kanye West, Elton John, Take That, Rod Stewart, James Blunt, Bryan Adams, James Morrison, Meatloaf, Pharrell Williams, Bryan Ferry, Joss Stone, Orson, Duran Duran, Andrew Lloyd Webber and the English National Ballet are all set to appear at the concert at Wembley Stadium in London on July 1.

Wilson told thisislondon.co.uk, "I'm not disrespecting her, but can you imagine someone like Kasabian playing at the concert? Elton John can do it - he knew her. I didn't know her. It would be hypocritical."

The Kaiser Chiefs are headlining the O2 Wireless Festival in Hyde Park on June 17th. Visit www.o2wirelessfestival.co.uk for tickets and information.
