Kid Rock Off The Hook On Assault Case
Prosecutors claim "insufficient evidence"

by Laura Katz

OAKLAND, CA  [Thursday Mar.22.2007]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Kid Rock has been let off the hook after being accused of assaulting a 28 year-old woman in Oakland, California.

According to Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe, Kid Rock invited the woman and another man to his place to listen to some music after meeting them at a bar-restaurant in Clarkston, Calif. When the woman wanted to leave, Kid Rock reportedly got angry, grabbed her by the the back of the neck and shoved her toward her vehicle, causing her to fall.

Kid Rock had a different story for police. He said that he asked the woman to leave after she became loud and out of control, and that she threatened him with assault charges.

The woman's male companion backed up her story, but a witness supported Kid Rock's.

McCabe said, "At this point, we have two people who say one thing and two other people who say something else. Once the investigation is completed, a report will be given to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office."

But County Prosecutor David Gorcyca says that there was "insufficient evidence to support a charge", so the case against him was dropped.

But it doesn't end there for Mr. Rock. According to TMZ.com, Kid's lawyer says the star "intends to fully pursue his civil remedies against this person as soon as we determine who she is."
