Singer walks in with 2 nods, walks away with 2 wins

NASHVILLE, TN  [Wednesday Feb.14.2007]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Carrie Underwood walked into Sunday's 49 th annual Grammy Awards with two nominations and when the show was over, both nominations had turned into trophies.

Carrie earned the Best Female Vocal Country Performance award for her number-one hit from a year ago, "Jesus, Take the Wheel." AND, the impressive Best New Artist. The victory in that all-genre category puts her in some very elite company and it's been 10 years since a country a country artit, LeAnn Rimes, has won the award.

Backstage, Carrie expressed her pride of representing country music at The Grammys, noting, " I've always hoped that I'd be a good representative for country music I feel so honored to be around all the people that I'm around in that genre." .
