by Laura Katz

Green Day
LOS ANGELES, CA  [Friday Dec.1.2006]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Socially conscious band Green Day has partnered up with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) to help out with the Move America Beyond Oil campaign, an organization devoted to fighting "oil addiction" in the U.S.

The members of Green Day have taken it upon themselves to create a website dedicated to the cause, www.GreenDayNRDC.com, where fans can communicate with legislators and corporate bigwigs via text message, allowing direct access to those who have the power to foster change.

Band frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said of the project, "Our message is that it's OK, and very rebellious, to take on that responsibility."

Log on to www.GreenDay.NRDC.com to speak your mind, learn some tips about how you can help save the environment, and also get free stuff like cool wallpapers and icons.
