Record Company Keeps The Killers at Bay
Label wants band to stagger releases

by Laura Katz

The Killers
LOS ANGELES, CA  [Wednesday Oct.25.2006]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Brandon Flowers has a beef with the record industry, but that isn't stopping him from playing Mr. Nice Guy.

The Killers have been staggering albums in order to keep their label happy, but the frontman feels that releasing records every 2 years or so puts limits on the band's creativity.

Flowers said, "Nowadays,it seems impossible to have a successful career without the long gaps between releases. Sam's Town is being released two years and four months after our first one (Hot Fuss) because of all these other committments, and I truly believe this kind of schedule is holding us back creatively. We've just got to adjust to it."

he went on to say, "At the same time, I understand the record company's viewpoint. They're a huge conglomerate, they don't want to lose money, and they don't know for sure if we're ever going to write a hit again."

"Right now, they reckon Sam's Town has four potential hit singles and they want to milk it for all its worth. And we feel we can accommodate them."
