Death Cab Posts Material on P2P Service, So Does Sub Pop
Band and label help Bittorent turn legit

by Laura Katz

Death Cab For Cutie
LOS ANGELES, CA  [Thursday Oct.19.2006]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- The highly-controversial peer-to-peer site called Bittorent enables users to download a file from multiple sources instead of just one. The increasingly popular site apparently accounts for a third of online traffic, and is a source for legal and illegal content.

Until very recently, bands and record labels have refrained from volunteering material to the service, but Death Cab For Cutie and Sub Pop Records are working to change all that.

Death Cab has just posted an electronic press kit on the P2P site. The kit gives fans behind-the-scenes peek at life on the Death Cab trail, in addition to the latest videos and in-depth interviews.

Sub Pop has done their share by posting music videos and mp3's from Iron and Wine, The Shins, and The Thermals to name a few.
