NASHVILLE, TN [Friday Sep.29.2006] /Mix103FM.com/ -- In an interview regarding his duets album, Tony Bennett said he was surprised by Tim McGraw and learned something about one of his own big hits.
"He was a great surprise to me," said Bennett, "because when I did "Cold, Cold Heart" years ago it was
uncomfortable for me. It was a country song which Mitch (Miller) insisted I do. I wasn't sure of it, but it sold
millions. It was the first country song that ever sold internationally because in those days country songs only sold in the Bible Belt..."
"Then all of a sudden this one sold internationally. It wasn't until I did it with Tim, standing three feet away from him at the microphone, that I realized there was such sincerity about interpreting the song properly. It changed my concept of how to do that song. Now I like doing it on stage."
