LOS ANGELES, CA  [Wednesday Sep.20.2006]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Nominees for the American Music Awards have been announced, and this years' artists are being a bit selfish with their nods.

Artists like The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nickelback, The Black Eyed Peas, and Mariah Carey earned three nominations apiece. Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kanye West, Rascall Flatts, Kelly Clarkson, The Pussycat Dolls, Carrie Underwood, and Jamie Fox all captured two.

According to USA Today, the female rap/hip-hop category was forgone this year, as there weren't enough artists who met the requirements for elegibility.

The American Music Awards will be held November 21st in Los Angeles, and will be televised on ABC.
