The music, as well as the fashion pay tribute to musical icons such as Sarah Vaughan and Billie Holiday, and inspire a retro feel.

According to Aguilera, her grandmother was the first to expose her to the genre, revealing "It was my release, my form of expression and kind of my escape from growing up in such a chaotic household."
