Snow Patrol Postpones US Tour
Gary Lightbody's laryngitis forces band to postpone tour.

by Krista Desens

Snow Patrol
NEW YORK, NY  [Tuesday Jun.13.2006]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Snow Patrol has postponed its entire US summer tour due to singer Gary Lightbody losing his voice.

Last week, the band had called off some of the tour's earlier shows after Gary came down with laryngitis. But when his condition didn't improve, the Snow Patrol frontman's doctor ordered him to rest his voice for at least a month.

In a message posted on the band's official web site, Gary apologized to fans for postponing the North American dates and explained, "I saw the doctor again...the news is bad. My vocal chords don't seem to have heeled at all. The polyps are still there and my singing voice is extremely weak."

Gary said he "may also need surgery," but for now, he's resting his voice and will be reevaluated by the doctor in a few weeks to see if further care is needed.

Gary asked fans for their understanding, saying "I hope you all understand that if I could do this tour right now I would but I'm worried to go against doctor's advice would lead to serious, even irreversible, problems further down the line."

Snow Patrol will reschedule the US tour in support of its new album "Eyes Open" for September 2006, and two new shows will be added for Las Vegas and San Diego. Tickets for the postponed shows will be honored at the rescheduled dates.
