Prince
NEW YORK, NY  [Friday Jun.2.2006]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Prince will be honored at the 10th annual Webby Awards, taking place next week in New York City.

Prince will receive a lifetime achievement award to recognize his innovative online approach to music. Prince was one of the first artists to release a Web-only album in 1997, called Crystal Ball.

"Besides being a musical genius, Prince is a visionary who recognized early on that the Web would completely change how we experience music," said Webby Awards founder Tiffany Shlain in a statement. "For more than a decade, he has tapped the power of the Web to forge a deeper connection with his fans and push the boundaries of technology and art."

Along with Prince, other honorees at this year's Webby Awards include Webby Artist of the Year the Gorillaz, MySpace, and Internet co-inventor Bob Kahn.
